Nose piercing is one of the most common types of piercing after the ears and navel. Most nose piercings are through the side of the nostrils. Septal piercing is less common and passes through the cartilage that separates the nostrils. Another type of rare nose piercing is a superficial break through the skin of the bridge of the nose. Most piercings use needles instead of the piercing machines that are often used on the earlobes.
